PEFC and FSC

The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) is committed to promoting sustainable forest management through independent third party forest certification.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international network to promote responsible management of the world’s forests.

The VELUX factories were some of the first to start working with new standards that were adopted by FSC and PEFC in autumn 2004 and some of our factories succeeded in obtaining FSC and/or PEFC certification as early as in 2004.

PEFC and FSC This means that we can now document that the majority of our windows come from certified factories. All the factories that produce VELUX windows are owned by VELUX, so we are in control of the whole process from the wood leaves the suppliers’ sawmills till the windows have been manufactured at the factories.

Our FSC or PEFC certified factories are controlled by an independent third party who verifies on an ongoing basis that we live up to the requirements in the FSC and PEFC standards.

In 2008 VELUX obtained PEFC chain of custody certification for 24 warehousing facilities, VELUX A/S and a number of sales companies. The certification is proof that traceability of a product to its origin is guaranteed and that it can be documented that the timber used comes from sustainable forests.
