The founder of the VKR Group, Villum Kann Rasmussen, instigated the Villum Kann Rasmussen Fonden in 1971, and ten years later set up the VELUX Fonden.
Both foundations – the VELUX FONDEN and the VILLUM KANN RASMUSSEN FONDEN –provide support for larger, non-profit projects with scientific, cultural, artistic or social objectives.
The VELUX FONDEN focuses its grants particularly on projects associated with culture, as well as with medical science, the humanities and social objectives.
The VILLUM KANN RASMUSSEN FONDEN targets its grants towards research and dissemination within the fields of natural sciences and technology, as well as to social, environmental and cultural projects. The foundation has the special function of awarding the Villum Kann Rasmussen Annual Award for Technical and Scientific Research.
