All six experiments within the Model Home 2020 concept will be built throughout 2008-2010.

The vision and principles behind Model Home 2020 need to be developed and tested. This is why VELUX is building six experiments over the next two years – six houses in five different countries, with a unique identity that can test the visions and ideas behind Model Home 2020. They will all reflect and respond to three main principles – efficient energy design, high livability and minimum climate impact – as well as the different climatic, cultural and architectural conditions of the countries in which they are built.
The experiments will run for 6-12 months from completion, after which time they will be sold below the market price. VELUX and partners will continue to monitor the experiments with the new residents to learn how the houses perform in real life conditions.

So far we have completed development and building of two of the experiments. The four other experiments are still under development, so look out for updates at this site with new information, photos, specifications and drawings of all the experiments.
