Sustainable living in the world of tomorrow

Sustainable buildings are a decisive factor for a more sustainable world. Besides obvious environmental benefits, they enhance quality of life for people, boost productivity at work, improve learning abilities in schools and reduce health costs for society.

  • Holistic approach: The holistic approach to sustainable growth is a cornerstone in the way the VELUX Group develops sustainable solutions for the future. It is also at the core of the Sustainia concept combining best practice, knowledge and technologies that already exist. As knowledge partner of Sustainia, the VELUX Group is contributing with our holistic mindset and insight into the development of sustainable buildings.

  • The Sustainia vision: The world needs inspiration, motivated by excitement not fear, in order to speed up the transformation to a more sustainable world.  The partners behind Sustainia aim to make sustainability more tangible and easier to grasp for both decision makers and citizens. A key point is that green growth and better quality of life go hand in hand.  Sustainia is not just a vision for the future, it is also an innovative platform for everybody engaged in creating the world of tomorrow.

  • Live experiments: The VELUX Group has just completed a series of six experimental buildings in Europe and demonstrated how it is possible to meet the buildings requirements of 2020 with the products available today. These buildings address the dual challenge of climate change and liveability.

  • Buildings’ potential: In the EU today, we spend 90% of our time indoors, in buildings that account for over 40% of all energy consumption. Up to 30% of the building stock neither contributes to nor provides a healthy indoor climate.

The independent think tank Monday Morning initiated Sustainia in collaboration with a number of companies, organisations and partners such as UN Global Compact and R20. For more information, go to www.sustainia.me.
