Based on VELUX know-how about good indoor climate and energy efficiency, the company aims to provide intelligent, aesthetic and cost-effective solutions to the commercial project market.
With 70 years of experience in bringing daylight and fresh air into the home, the VELUX Group is now launching VELUX Modular Skylights for commercial and public buildings. The new product will enhance the Group’s relevance in buildings such as schools, retail outlets, offices and cultural institutions.
“With the introduction of VELUX Modular Skylights, our ambition is to be a significant player in the commercial skylights segment. As we see it, the industry has been demanding for some considerable time aesthetic, energy-efficient solutions that are easy to specify, buy and install. VELUX Modular Skylights will contribute significantly towards meeting that need,” says Jacob Schambye, Chief Commercial Officer of the VELUX Group.
The introduction of VELUX Modular Skylights responds to the demand in the commercial project market for greater energy efficiency, increased daylight requirements and efficiency in the construction process. They will also bring higher quality and more attractive roof sys-tems at a competitive prize.
Today, this market is characterised to a great extent by custom-made solutions of glass and aluminium. Traditionally these skylights are less energy efficient and are assembled on site with components from many suppliers. This means a lot of fitting work on site and on the roof. The aim of the new, modular system is to provide an innovative cost-effective system that removes the hassle, quality risk and potentially high costs of customised systems and to make life easier for all relevant project participants – at a competitive price.
Unique modular design
VELUX Modular Skylights will distinguish itself with its modular, off-the-shelf characteristics and an exclusive and slim design with non-visible motors to operate the windows. Further-more, the product is one of the most energy efficient on the market today and represents exceptionally high value-for-money, thanks to the mass production capability of the VELUX Group.
“We build on our knowledge and technology to mass produce a high quality product − al-lowing the customer to benefit from both quality and price. We are now transferring this insight into a new strategic area, underlining our position as a leading brand in the building industry,” says Jacob Schambye.
VELUX Modular Skylights is unique in the way that it offers a ready-made solution to a mar-ket where bespoke products often predominate. Usually these products are made by various smaller companies who do not exclusively serve the skylight market. VELUX Modular Sky-lights are assembled in the factory and delivered on site ready to install, complete with frames, panes, flashings, controls and blinds.
VELUX Modular Skylights was developed in close cooperation between the VELUX Group and the international architectural firm Foster+Partners.
