Today the construction industry is facing great challenges for future construction work. Figures from the EU member states show that buildings account for 40% of all energy consumption in Europe. So, buildings constitute a substantial potential when it comes to reduction of CO2 emissions.
In the VELUX Group we have been working for years to make our products as environment and climate friendly as possible. We are continuously looking for ways of improving them and of developing concepts for sustainable, climate neutral buildings.
We refer to our way of tackling the climate challenge by the term Sustainable Living. For the VELUX Group, it means three things: the buildings of the future must have a good indoor climate, they must be energy efficient and they must use sustainable energy sources.
We have something to offer in all three areas – partly because of our products, and partly because of our knowledge of and experience in energy, daylight and architecture
As sponsor of World Climate Solutions 2010 we had the opportunity to demonstrate our know-how. World Climate Solutions is the largest greentech conference and exhibition in Northern Europe and it took place in Copenhagen on 29 and 30 September 2010.
At World Climate Solutions 2010, the VELUX Group donated our exhibition area to the new international building trade network under the name of Active House Alliance. The VELUX Group is one of the founding members of the network. The goal is that future buildings will be designed according to the ”Active House vision”, an overall vision to develop buildings that give more than they take in terms of health and indoor climate as well as energy and environment.
