Construction Products Regulation
sets clear requirements for manufacturers

The aim of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) is to create one single European market for construction products and to improve the free movement of construction products in the European Union.

The CPR lays down harmonised rules for the marketing of construction products in the European Union. The regulation is based on harmonised European standards, defining a common technical language to assess the performance of construction products. The aim of the regulation is to create one single European market for construction products and improve the free movement of construction products in the European Union by:

  • laying down uniform rules for the marketing of these products,
  • providing a common technical language to assess the performance of construction products, and
  • using market surveillance platforms at national level to control compliance with declared values of construction products.

The CPR also aims to provide reliable information to professionals, public authorities, and consumers, so they can compare the performance of products from different manufacturers in different EU countries.

Regarding product-specific requirements for CE-marking, the CPR refers to harmonised European Standards where more detailed specifications for CE-marking are given. For roof windows the relevant harmonised European standard is EN 14351-1, listing the essential characteristics and how to determine them.
