Maison Air et Lumière – an evaluation of indoor air quality

An evaluation of air quality at Maison Air et Lumière, a single family Active House equipped with hybrid ventilation. The evaluation was only based on CO2 levels, according to the second edition of the Active House specifications and a special focus was given to the effects of the natural ventilation system during the summer. It reports that all rooms achieved low CO2 levels during the summer for 95% of the time and that the average was low all year round. The report also shows that natural ventilation, using openable windows during the summer months, resulted in lower CO2 levels and improved air quality, in comparison with the use of mechanical ventilation during winter months.
