We are delivering on this target through a 20-year partnership with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). With the partnership, we finance forest projects to be delivered by WWF that will capture the equivalent of our historical CO2 emissions. WWF is setting up and implementing forest projects in some of the world’s most biodiverse landscapes where forests are most under pressure.
Each project will deliver nature-based solutions for climate mitigation aligned with WWF’s Blueprint for High-Quality Interventions that Work for People, Nature and Climate. This Blueprint ensures that our forest projects are designed to deliver positive climate, community and biodiversity benefits. The carbon captured from these forest projects will be donated to the host countries’ climate commitments under the Paris Agreement. This means that the carbon captured by the forest projects will not be used for off-setting of VELUX carbon emissions or any other organisation’s emissions.
*The projects are designed to include a 25% buffer bringing the total potential capture to approximately 5.6 million tonnes of CO₂.
