The challenge was to take a totally derelict, unliveable space and optimize it

Prisca (homeowner) has always liked and lived in attic apartments. After earning a degree in architecture and interior design, she wanted to create a showcase. The young architect used her skills to remodel this 60 m² attic apartment. She loves this “cocooning space”, especially the idea of being in contact with the sky and the atypical space complete with visible wood frame. She invested huge amounts of time and energy into this 6-month project.

Painted everything white and added new roof windows

"I was pleasantly surprised by the new white finish on the wood frame which gives the windows a much more contemporary look and feel. It is immediately more discrete and more refined", Prisca says.

Main benefits of getting VELUX roof windows

  1. Interior comfort: "I have a VELUX window in each room of my house. They are very useful in the bathroom and kitchen for airing out the humidity. In my room, I use the insulated blackout blinds to get a good nights’ sleep and better temperature control. In my living room and office, I enjoy daylight while I work", Prisca says.

  2. Link between outdoors and indoors: "It is a real benefit to be able to see the sky from the comfort of my own home. Daylight is another way to delineate space. The roof windows enable me to recover floor area, gain a little extra ceiling height and improve traffic flow in the room", Prisca explains.

  3. Quick installation: "They were installed quite quickly and easily. I called on a VELUX installer to install the roof windows. Everything was finished in a day and a half. I installed the blinds later by myself", Prisca says.
